Nightsister fortress

The Nightsister fortress, located on Dathomir, served as the primary settlement for the Nightsisters during the Clone Wars, and was under the command of Mother Talzin. This fortress was also the residence of Dathomirian assassin Asajj Ventress.

History

Asajj Ventress sought refuge on her home planet, Dathomir, after Count Dooku's attempt to assassinate her failed. Upon her arrival, she was taken to Talzin's village where the Nightsisters provided her with medical treatment.

Shortly after, Dooku arrived at the village at Talzin's invitation, as she had offered to provide him with a new Sith apprentice. However, this was a ruse orchestrated by Ventress and Talzin as part of their plot against the Count. Following Dooku and Talzin's discussion, the Sith Lord departed, and Ventress immediately began her search for his new "apprentice," who was intended to be an assassin. She returned to the village with Savage Opress, who underwent a ritualistic transformation into a monstrous warrior through the magicks of Talzin and her Nightsisters. Feral, Savage's brother, was also brought to the village to test Savage's loyalty and the Nightsisters' control over him; he was forced to kill his own kin. Savage complied without hesitation, strangling Feral to death. Savage was then delivered to Dooku, with the hope that he would aid Ventress in her plan to avenge the Count's betrayal.

After the failed assassination attempt on Dooku, a wounded Savage returned to the village seeking guidance from Talzin. She revealed to him that he had a long-lost brother, Darth Maul, residing in the Outer Rim. Talzin gave Oppress the magical Talisman of Finding, which would guide him to his brother. Savage pledged to return and then departed to find his mysterious sibling.

Ventress eventually sought sanctuary with her fellow Nightsisters in the village and underwent a ceremonial initiation into the clan. The witches celebrated the "rebirth" of their new sister, but the celebration was short-lived. Count Dooku had dispatched the formidable Kaleesh cyborg, Grievous, along with his battle droid forces, to Dathomir to eliminate Ventress, Talzin, and the Nightsisters. Despite the Nightsisters' valiant efforts, Grievous and his forces overwhelmed the witches and stormed the village, exterminating all who lived there. Only Ventress and Talzin managed to escape the massacre, leaving the Nightsisters' former sanctuary in ruins.

Following the Nightsisters' annihilation, Savage Opress returned to Dathomir with Maul, his long-lost brother. However, the former Sith Lord was a mere shadow of his former self; his body and mind were shattered following his fateful duel with the Jedi Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, over a decade prior. Talzin, who had been living in seclusion since the Separatist attack, revealed herself to the brothers and led them into the ruined village. There, Talzin used her magicks to restore Maul's mind and rejuvenate his weakened body, replacing his crude, arachnid-like appendages with sleek, mechanical legs. With her task complete, Talzin vanished once more, and the Nightbrothers embarked on a quest for revenge.
