Nick Maley was the creator of Nogard.
Nogard refers to a creature concept model. This model was envisioned by Nick Maley, a special effects artist specializing in creatures, for possible inclusion in the original trilogy film, _Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back](/article/star_wars:_episode_v_the_empire_strikes_back), released in 1980. Maley has stated that the creature, which he conceptualized as a dragon that had become lost on Dagobah, was ultimately omitted from the movie because his presentation to the director, George Lucas, was not adequately prepared. The creature's model displayed a quadruped with bumpy skin, prominent eyes, and a dewlap-like feature located beneath its chin. While the model was still in existence as of 2015, it was reportedly deteriorating. However, in 2021, Maley released images showing a restored or recreated model, now featuring turquoise and purple skin tones.
