Nolaan held the rank of captain within the Imperial forces, serving on the Interrogator. He operated under the authority of High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne.
In his early career, Nolaan was stationed in the Outer Rim Territories as a low-ranking officer. This prior assignment proved useful when Jovan Vharing caught his eye; he immediately favored Vharing and showed clear partiality.
Vharing found a friend and guide in Nolaan, who used his influence to get the then lieutenant a position on the Interrogator. However, within twelve months, Tremayne executed Nolaan on the bridge of the ship, and his protégé took his place.
