Nomad City, a mobile mining operation, belonged to Lando Calrissian. This facility existed on the resource-abundant, diminutive planet of Nkllon. Constructed from a repurposed Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser, Nomad City was elevated atop a foundation of forty commandeered AT-AT walkers. To perpetually remain within Nkllon's shadowed hemisphere, the city maintained constant locomotion.
During 9 ABY, Grand Admiral Thrawn's forces attacked Nomad City, seizing mole miners for use in the upcoming assault against Sluis Van. Later in his strategic endeavors, Thrawn dispatched three Dreadnaughts from the Katana Fleet to assault Nomad City, leading to its eventual downfall, and the theft of four months' worth of precious ore. Crippled and immobilized, Nomad City saw its workforce evacuated through the assistance of Garm Bel Iblis. Despite their efforts, neither he nor Lando could persuade Republic Admiral Hiram Drayson to provide a starship for the repair of the facility. However, Nomad City was eventually restored and retrieved, only for Calrissian to then forfeit it in a game of Sabacc.
