Nulan VI, a planet, existed within the Nulan system, which itself was located in the Hook Nebula region of the Outer Rim Territories'. A city on this world chose, sometime following the Battle of Yavin, to revolt against the Galactic Empire and instead align itself with the Rebel Alliance.
As a consequence, during the Galactic Civil War's Hook Nebula campaign, the Imperial Qeimet fleet initiated a siege of Nulan VI. The Scimitar assault wing of that fleet then executed deep-atmospheric targeted bombing, compelling the city to capitulate. This siege of Nulan VI was later documented in a collection of Imperial records assembled by Rebel historian Major Arhul Hextrophon for Supreme Commander Mon Mothma and other Rebel officers.

The initial mention of Nulan VI occurred in Greg Gorden's Imperial Sourcebook, a 1989 publication by West End Games intended for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. A roleplaying game article titled "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," which appeared in the thirteenth issue (1990) of Voyages SF magazine, positioned the Nulan system, and therefore the planet, within the Ammuud sector.
Given that this article was not released through Lucas Licensing, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity was never officially established. The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009, subsequently placed the Nulan system in grid square O-18. Later, the Online Companion on StarWars.com for that book superseded the Voyages SF 13 placement, confirming that the system was located in the Hook Nebula instead.
