The computer program known as Omega order five was designed to perform a flash-clear operation, completely erasing the memory of computers upon activation. This program was the creation of Imperial Moff Kentor Sarne, who utilized it during the Battle of Kal'Shebbol. His intent was to eliminate all data from the computers located at his headquarters before the New Republic forces could liberate the planet. Beyond simply deleting Imperial directives and paperwork, Omega order five also wiped out historical archives, employee information, and centuries of navigational information pertaining to the Kathol sector. Consequently, the New Republic lacked concrete information to pursue the Moff after his escape from the planet, and they were unsure of which inhabitants of the planet were trustworthy. Furthermore, they were ignorant of the numerous colonies and alien species residing within the sector.
