Onibald Daykim, also known by the title King Daykim, once held a minor position as a civil servant on the planet Coruscant. He later sought refuge in the Undercity, where he became the leader of a band of outcasts who were collectively known as Daykim's Kingdom.
Daykim was employed as a low-level manager at the Corusca Bank, specifically at its Imperial Palace branch. A simple mistake in accounting, made by one of his staff members, unexpectedly made him the most talked-about individual on Coruscant for a period of two hours. The error resulted in Emperor Palpatine being erroneously listed at the top of the public list of loan defaulters in the Imperial City for those two hours. Enraged by this public humiliation, the Emperor dismissed the entire board of directors and began a search for the individual responsible for the error. In order to avoid capture, Daykim, along with his fellow bureaucrats, escaped into the depths of Coruscant's Undercity.
Within the Undercity, the bureaucrats maintained their loyalty to Daykim, and they crowned him as King Daykim. As their King, Daykim received the finest spoils they acquired, including luxurious animal skins, and the shoulder pads and gloves taken from a stormtrooper.
The group illicitly tapped into the energy grid of Imperial City using antiquated generators. They also utilized discarded machinery to create a surveillance system, designed to protect their territory. Daykim's Kingdom existed in such isolation that they remained unaware of the fall of the Empire, until Jacen and Jaina Solo inadvertently entered their territory, after Chewbacca and C-3PO had lost track of them. Daykim facilitated the return of the twins to the surface, but despite receiving assurances of the New Republic's benevolent nature, he chose to remain in the Undercity, preferring it to the bureaucratic monotony of life on the surface.
