Operation Ram's Head

Operation Ram's Head was a plan conceived and executed by the Rebel Alliance following the Battle of Yavin.

Background

The genesis of Operation Ram's Head occurred when flight data obtained from the destruction of the BFF-1 bulk freighter Sarsuma indicated that a Star Destroyer could be rendered inoperable by colliding with its bridge structure. This idea gained traction after the Leafar's defection and the subsequent capture of several TIE Avengers from an Imperial testing facility by the BFF-1 bulk freighter Ashanti. Examination of these captured fighters revealed that the Galactic Empire was experimenting with a novel type of shield, designated as Shield X.

The operation

The Ram's Head, about to smash into an Imperial-class Star Destroyer's command tower.

The Rebel Alliance resolved to seize three Assault Gunboats, utilizing the Lambda-class T-4a shuttle Leary for transport and the MC80 Liberty type Star Cruiser Cathleen for subsequent retrieval.

These Assault Gunboats were then employed by the Alliance to penetrate a clandestine Imperial base where the Shield X project was underway. While there, they commandeered the CR90 corvette Blade 5, which possessed the necessary mechanism.

The corvette was then renamed Ram's Head. After final preparations conducted by technicians from the corvette Libra, it was dispatched to collide with a formation of Imperial-class Star Destroyers docked at Imperial Drydock IV. The operation achieved complete success, as the Ram's Head inflicted substantial damage upon each Star Destroyer by tearing through their command towers.

The ultimate fate of the Ram's Head remains unknown, as it was not destroyed and was observed departing into space without a crew.
