Oplovis

Oplovis, the place of origin for the renowned Oplovis linens, was a world situated within the Oplovis system. This system was part of the Oplovis sector, which itself was located in the New Territories region of the Outer Rim Territories. Furthermore, the Oplovian love poems composed by Sumi Zanthe held a place among the classics of literature.

In the year 48 BBY, Oplovis was the site where the Human male Gaen Drommel was born. Drommel would later rise to the rank of admiral within the navy of the Galactic Empire. During the Galactic Civil War, when Drommel was given command of the Executor-class Star Dreadnought known as the Guardian, he instructed his executive officer, Gastos Niovi, to retrieve Oplovis linens directly from the admiral's homeworld for use in his new quarters aboard the Guardian. Following the death of Galactic Emperor Palpatine during the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Drommel established his own personal domain within the Oplovis sector, using the space around his planet of origin as a base.

Production Notes

The initial mention of Oplovis occurred in the 1993 sourcebook titled Wanted by Cracken. The sourcebook was authored by Louis J. Prosperi for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, published by West End Games. The Essential Atlas, a reference book released in 2009, identified the location of the Oplovis system, and consequently the world itself, as grid square M-5.
