The Oplovis system existed within the Oplovis sector, which itself was situated in the New Territories region of the vast Outer Rim Territories. The planet Oplovis was a part of this system, and it was there that the Human male named Gaen Drommel experienced his birth in the year 48 BBY.
Drommel later achieved the rank of admiral within the Galactic Empire's navy. During the Galactic Civil War, upon receiving command of the Executor-class Star Dreadnought known as the Guardian, Drommel tasked his executive officer, Gastos Niovi, with the specific mission of acquiring Oplovis linens directly from the admiral's homeworld for use in the latter's new living quarters on the Guardian. Following the death of Galactic Emperor Palpatine during the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Drommel established his own personal domain centered around the space encompassing Oplovis, within the Oplovis sector.
The first recorded mention of the Oplovis system occurred in The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009 written collaboratively by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. It was located at grid coordinate M-5.
