The Orbital Industrial Zone represented a massive network of manufacturing plants that were in orbit around the planet Corellia. The development of this zone came about hundreds of years prior to the Battle of Yavin, when the Corellian government relocated its industrial sector into space to prevent a looming ecological catastrophe. This enormous zone extended across a substantial portion, specifically half, of Corellia's orbital path. It included a wide array of industrial sites such as factories, smelting facilities, processing plants, and shipbuilding facilities, all linked via adaptable connector arms spanning distances of tens to hundreds of kilometers. Corellian Engineering Corporation maintained its shipbuilding operations there, and the Corellian defense force also maintained its main command center in the orbital zone. The Corellian Port Authority was in charge of managing and regulating the Orbital Industrial Zone.
