Ord Ibanna, situated in the Outer Rim Territories, was a gas giant. A Tibanna mining colony was once established on this planet; however, it was abandoned before the Invasion of Naboo. Furthermore, Ord Ibanna was the location of a fierce naval conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire during the era of the Great Galactic War.
Ord Ibanna served as the battleground for a space engagement between the forces of the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War. With the Sith Navy on the verge of collapse and their commanding Sith deceased, a young naval officer, Rycus Kilran, assumed command of the remaining Imperial forces and orchestrated a swift and decisive victory for the Sith. This same Rycus Kilran, demonstrating his tactical brilliance and dedication to victory during the Sacking of Coruscant, was later promoted to the rank of Grand Moff. Three thousand years later, during the Clone Wars, Jedi Knights Quinlan Vos and Tholme utilized the planet as a secret rendezvous point. The planet faded into obscurity when the Galactic Empire outlawed podracing.
Ord Ibanna became a venue for podracing circuits, possibly due to, or perhaps in spite of, the neglected state of its mining platforms. Dethro Glok, the chief scrap scavenger, established at least three courses that incorporated these decaying platforms. He relished the high-speed excitement of the races, and the sounds of pilots plummeting into the depths below. The names of the three Podracing tracks were Scrapper's Run, Dethro's Revenge, and Abyss.
