A group, or tribe, of Ortolans who practiced shamanistic rituals inhabited the Ash Plains located on Lenico IV in the era of the Great Galactic War. In approximately 3678 BBY, Exal Kressh, a Sith apprentice, arrived at the Ortolan's village, acquired knowledge of their Force based abilities, and subsequently massacred all of the tribe's people.
These tribal members had a noticeably thinner build when compared to Ortolans native to Orto; this difference led to them being categorized as a distinct race, or subspecies, of Ortolan.
