Osted Alater

Captain Osted Alater held a rank as an officer within the Imperial Navy and commanded the vessel known as the Crusader's Shield. During the initial period of the Galactic Empire, Alater received orders from Governor Paro Lanto to look into the activities of Planetary Safaris Inc., a company focused on arranging challenging hunts on various unique planets. On the planet Barab I, hunting expeditions were frequently going missing or being destroyed by the native wildlife. According to the Dangerous Species Act, eliminating these creatures was permissible to safeguard the Imperial presence. Nevertheless, Alater's investigation of these "wild beasts" revealed that they were, in reality, a sentient species. Given that the Dangerous Species Act did not extend to sentient lifeforms, he ordered the closure of Planetary Safaris due to their unethical practices.

As a tribute to Captain Alater's actions, the Barabels constructed Alater-ka, which became the planet's primary spaceport and later its capital city.
