Otherspace represents an adventure module crafted for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, penned by Bill Slavicsek. Its original publication was handled by West End Games during the year 1989.
Otherspace featured the return of certain non-player characters previously seen in prior West End Games adventures, namely Tatooine Manhunt and Strike Force: Shantipole. A subsequent adventure, Otherspace II: Invasion, picked up where Otherspace left off.
A realm beyond the boundaries of realspace, situated beyond the space-time distorting pathways of hyperspace, awaits discovery. When the hyperdrive engine malfunctions on an Alliance prisoner transport, individuals from both the Rebellion and the Empire find themselves transported to a peculiar, uncharted dimension residing between the familiar hyperlanes and realspace.
Here, derelict vessels originating from across known space drift alongside ships of unknown design. These abandoned craft are drawn toward a massive vessel, akin to moths attracted to a flame—or ensnared in a spider's web.
Within the shadowy confines of this colossal ship, the conflict between Rebel and Imperial forces finds new theaters of war and novel weaponry for mutual destruction. However, they also encounter something else, something that may detect them first. It seeks to break free from otherspace and enter realspace. Should it succeed, the galaxy faces annihilation!

A team of Rebel operatives—the player characters—are en route to assume control of Celestial, a Rebel transport ship carrying cargo destined for a secure Rebel location, along with several prominent Imperial prisoners (including the bounty hunter Zardra and Grand Moff Ravik.) Regrettably for the player characters, the Imperial detainees have already escaped confinement and seized control of Celestial. The player characters' arrival coincides with an ambush by TIE fighters launched from the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Relentless.
The adventure, initially appearing as a typical Rebel-Imperial conflict, takes an unexpected turn when the players attempt a hyperspace jump for escape. Their hyperdrive malfunctions, stranding them in otherspace, the domain of the enigmatic, death-obsessed Charon. They also learn that Celestial is present in otherspace, having been captured by the Charon flagship, Desolate. Their only recourse for escape involves boarding Desolate to acquire the necessary components to repair their hyperdrive—and, in the process, attempting to thwart the Charon's planned invasion of the galaxy.
