Ovold, a Zabrak engineer of male gender, existed in the era of the Cold War. As part of the reconstruction project on Taris, he was involved in the extraction of samples from the planet's deep interior via deep-core drilling; these samples, however, were actually forbidden relics from Taris. His contractual obligation was to deliver these samples to Beryl Thorne, but his base camp suffered an attack by scavengers, who absconded with crucial equipment and the sought-after samples. When Voidhound, Beryl's associate, came to pick up the samples, Ovold was left with no other option but to guide the smuggler to the scavengers' location where the stolen samples were taken. During his time on Taris, Ovold constantly wore X-1 combat goggles, vigilantly scanning the environment for potential threats like rakghouls and other hazardous creatures.
