Situated on the planet of Brentaal IV, specifically within Cityblock Kesk-319, the Pathline Tapcafe was a tapcafe that operated in 0 ABY. During that year, personnel from the Alliance to Restore the Republic, specifically the privateering crew of the [Far Orbit], an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate, made a visit to the Pathline Tapcafe, with the intention of acquiring a sought-after datadisc from a contact.
Found in Cityblock Kesk-319 on the world of Brentaal IV, where Route 6903 intersected with Citypath 515, was the tapcafe known as the Pathline Tapcafe. Among the culinary offerings was Gruuvan shaal, a food originating from the Twi'lek culture. A manager was in charge of the tapcafe, and a team of waiters, comprising both Human and non-Human individuals, provided service to its patrons.
By 0 ABY, the Pathline Tapcafe was already a going concern, during the period when the Galactic Civil War raged between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In that year, the Empire's Commission for the Preservation of the New Order started to enforce a non-native workers act on Brentaal IV; this legislation had been approved by the Imperial Senate prior to its disbanded. Consequently, Imperial forces apprehended Tynial, a Devaronian who secretly sympathized with the Alliance, along with multiple non-Human waiters and staff members of the Pathline Tapcafe, citing their lack of proper identification. This situation created a staffing crisis for the manager, although the Imperials overlooked checking the identification of Human employees who were not originally from Brentaal IV.
Two days later, personnel from the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Far Orbit arrived at the Pathline Tapcafe, searching for Tynial. The Far Orbit was, in reality, an Alliance frigate engaged in privateering activities, and Tynial was their Alliance contact, from whom they sought a valuable datadisk containing intelligence concerning the route of the Imperial Star Galleon-class frigate _Emperor's Will.
Although Tynial was absent, the crew members still inquired with a waiter about Gruuvan shaal, which served as the agreed-upon passphrase for contacting Tynial. Subsequently, another waiters, also an Alliance contact, approached the group and suggested they visit the nightclub called Jovvitz later that evening. At Jovvitz that night, the waiter provided them with the datadisk, although the privateers were subsequently pursued by agents from the Imperial Security Bureau.
Raid on Brentaal, an adventure scenario featured in 1998's The Far Orbit Project by Timothy S. O'Brien, marked the initial appearance of the Pathline Tapcafe. This book, serving as a supplement to West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, shared the same theme as the earlier publication, Pirates & Privateers, focusing on the privateering vessel Far Orbit. The book does not explicitly require the players to ask about the Twi'lek dish. If they do not ask, they are left without a means of obtaining the datadisk.
