Behind the scenes

An actor portrayed Pedric Tosh on set during the production of Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones in 2002, although it remains uncertain if he ultimately appeared in the film. Therefore, this article considers the 2005 publication, Dressing a Galaxy: The Costumes of Star Wars, as the first officially licensed Star Wars material to feature the character. Tosh's identity was revealed within the "Rogues Gallery" section of Star Wars Insider 145, which was released in 2013. Tim Veekhoven, Kevin Beentjes, and Sander de Lange, the writers of the article, imagined him to be the uncle of Jann Tosh, a character appearing in the animated series Star Wars: Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO. The authors also speculated that Tosh might have been among the Palace Guards who perished in the explosion that destroyed Senator Padmé Amidala's J-type diplomatic barge. Given the ambiguity surrounding the extra's presence in Attack of the Clones, this article refrains from making any definitive claims regarding the precise time that the Palace Guard served.
