Pellezara station

Pellezara Station, a sprawling artificial city stretching 40 kilometers in length, floated in the Duro system's void, a key hub for the massive freighters supplying the planet of Duro. The station belonged to the parents of Tarrin Datch, who frequently organized aerial exhibitions to alleviate the boredom of the freighter pilots.

History

Serving as a crucial maintenance and resupply point, the space station catered to the freighters traveling to the planet Duro. While their ships underwent servicing within Pellezara's maintenance bays, the station's owners, the Datch family, hosted frequent flight demonstrations for the amusement of the often-idle pilots. These displays featured modified cargo-flitters and tugs, executed within the chaotic environment of free-floating service bays and cargo containers. The danger and complexity of the environment made the shows especially captivating. The Datch children, including the gifted Tarrin Datch, often assisted in these performances.

In the year 1 BBY, a seemingly ordinary freighter docked at Pellezara's primary tower for replenishment. Seventeen-year-old Tarrin was tasked with replacing gravity disks within the freighter's deckplates. While disassembling a particularly stubborn plate, he discovered a concealed compartment containing an injured Human female who identified herself as Jan Ors. In her weakened, delirious state, Ors revealed to Datch that her freighter carried a cargo of high-grade fuel slugs, stolen from the Galactic Empire, intended for delivery to the Rebellion.

Upon the Empire's discovery of the fuel slug theft, and their subsequent tracking of the freighter to Duro, Datch realized he could not allow the cargo to return to Imperial control. With the freighter's crew having already disembarked, Datch found himself the sole pilot aboard. Defying the stranded crew's protests, he detached the freighter from the station's main tower and piloted it into open space, pursued closely by an Imperial Gamma-class assault shuttle. Datch skillfully maneuvered the freighter through the dense traffic as if it were a starfighter, successfully evading the shuttle before initiating a jump to hyperspace, leaving Pellezara behind permanently. Following Ors's instructions, Datch navigated to a clandestine Rebel base located on the planet Dantooine. Finding refuge with the Rebellion, Datch subsequently underwent training to become a fighter pilot.
