The Jedi Enclave was a clandestine academy run by the Jedi Order, situated on the planet of Dantooine. Similar to what occurred on Coruscant, children exhibiting Force-sensitivity underwent training in the disciplines of the Force. However, the selection process was more stringent, admitting only those candidates displaying the greatest potential. Supervised by a satellite branch of the Jedi High Council, the Enclave served as the training ground for numerous influential Jedi across centuries. It ceased operations only during the Jedi Civil War, when Darth Malak's forces attacked Dantooine, resulting in the structure's destruction.

On Dantooine's expansive grassy plains, Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas embarked on a quest to find an appropriate location to establish a training center. This center aimed to provide the Jedi Order with the desperately needed Jedi Knights. Baas discovered a cave abundant with naturally formed crystals, essential for crafting a Jedi's lightsaber. Around 4016 BBY,[source?] he built his academy, which became known as the Enclave. Baas took charge of the Enclave,[source?] and he was responsible for training young Exar Kun in the ways of the Force. Crado and Sylvar, both Cathar students, were among his other pupils. These Jedi would spar together in the Ancient Grove,[source?] located south and east of the Enclave. Baas prioritized training the Human Kun, believing he would become an exceptionally powerful Jedi. However, Kun eventually succumbed to the dark side of the Force, proclaimed himself Dark Lord of the Sith, and ultimately killed Master Baas during the Great Sith War within the Senate Hall on Coruscant.

Following Baas's death and the war's conclusion, an administrative body was established to oversee the Enclave, functioning as a satellite to the Jedi High Council. The High Council had recently reassembled on Coruscant after the devastation of Ossus. This Council, comprising four Jedi Masters, was tasked with managing all aspects of the Enclave and ensuring its students adhered to the Jedi Code while so far from Coruscant. During this period, the Council convened to address the dangers posed by the now-deceased Sith Lord Kun's dark side beasts, known as terentateks. As these creatures continued to roam various Republic worlds, the Council initiated the Great Hunt, a galaxy-spanning purge of the dark side abominations by the Jedi Order. As the terentatek population diminished, the Council declared the hunt concluded, but secretly assigned Jedi Knights Duron Qel-Droma, Shaela Nuur, and Guun Han Saresh to eliminate the remaining beasts on Korriban. Despite the Council's awareness of the need for more Jedi, they dispatched only three Knights, all of whom eventually perished. Qel-Droma and Nuur died on Korriban, while Saresh, after separating from the others, met his end on Kashyyyk, leading to the mission's ultimate failure.

In the brief decades following Baas and Kun's deaths, the academy thrived under the satellite Council's guidance. Among the academy's students, five Padawans—Shad Jelavan, Kamlin, Oojoh, Gharn, and Zayne Carrick—were chosen to become apprentices to four Jedi Seers and another Master stationed at the new Jedi academy on Taris. Unbeknownst to the Council, this group of rogue Masters plotted to sacrifice their Padawans to prevent a prophecy that foretold one of the apprentices would bring about the Jedi Order's destruction. The massacre on Taris achieved only partial success, and their failure to eliminate all the Padawans would have significant repercussions, inadvertently triggering an outbreak of Mandalorian attacks throughout the Ojoster sector. Carrick, the sole survivor of his masters' planned slaughter, was framed for the murders and sought guidance from a member of the Enclave Council. He found a reliable ally in his original mentor from the Enclave, Master Vandar Tokare. Tokare was contacted by the fugitive Padawan after his Master's betrayal left him with no one else he could trust. When his father, banker Arvan Carrick, became a target of the five Masters still pursuing him, Tokare welcomed the Carrick family to Dantooine's Enclave for as long as they needed and hired Arvan Carrick as his new accountant.
As the Mandalorian Wars raged across the Outer Rim Territories, the Council refused to support the Republic's war efforts. Deeming this decision unacceptable, former Dantooine student Revan led a group of dissenting Jedi against the Mandalorians, rallying hundreds of Jedi to his cause. Along with his Padawan, Alek, Revan was joined by former Dantooine trainee Meetra Surik, who became one of Revan's most ardent supporters and military leaders during the war with the Mandalorians. In a decisive move, Revan's armies defeated the Mandalorians, securing a victory for the Republic.

Following the war, Revan and Alec vanished. During their absence, the secluded Enclave on Dantooine became a central hub for the local community, providing a landing facility and various shops. Ordinary people could be found congregating just outside the Enclave walls, finding safety from raiders and kath hounds. After the conflict with the Mandalorians, the defeated clans were exiled to the Outer Rim. Dantooine's remote location from the Core Worlds led some Mandalorians to gather there, channeling their innate desire for conquest into petty raids on the settlers. The Jedi at the Enclave also served as a local security force, resolving kidnappings, murders, and family disputes. However, they took no action to stop the Mandalorian raiders until casualties were reported. In one instance, Jon, a farmer, lost his daughter in a raid by the Mandalorian Sherruk. He sought an audience with the Council, which was known for its slow decision-making process.
In a shocking turn of events, the Jedi heroes of the Mandalorian War returned from the Unknown Regions, declaring themselves Dark Lords of the Sith under the titles Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Leading a vast army of Jedi and Republic soldiers, Darth Revan established a massive Sith Empire and initiated a civil war against the Jedi Order. During the conflict, the Council planned and executed an unprecedented operation, capturing Revan and altering his mind. Padawan Bastila Shan escorted him back to Dantooine aboard the Ebon Hawk, a star freighter they used to escape the destruction of Taris. The memories created for him through the Force by the Jedi Council allowed him to be retrained as a Jedi, free from the dark influence of his past as ruler of the Sith. Jedi Master Zhar Lestin assumed the responsibility of training Revan once the council was convinced that ignoring his newly rediscovered Force-sensitivity was too dangerous. Under the guidance of Jedi Master Dorak, the Enclave's official chronicler, Revan chose a specific path of Jedi training and constructed a new lightsaber in the Jedi Enclave's training room. As part of his training, Revan confronted a fallen Jedi in the Ancient Grove and persuaded her to relinquish her anger and rejoin the Order. The Jedi, Juhani, a Cathar trained on Dantooine by Jedi Master Quatra, requested permission from the Council to accompany Revan off-planet on his final mission. The Council granted her wish to join Revan in his quest to stop Malak and destroy the Sith Empire. With the Council's blessing, Jedi Revan, Juhani, and Shan departed the Enclave in search of Revan's former Padawan.

As Revan and his companions journeyed across the Republic, the Enclave began to witness the impact of Revan's actions. Several of the Sith Lord's former followers traveled to Dantooine, seeking reconciliation with the Council and admittance to the Enclave for retraining. Among them was Kel Algwinn, a former Sith hopeful who abandoned the Sith Academy on Korriban in search of a Jedi Master. Even a Sith Master like Yuthura Ban found redemption with the Jedi after encountering the powerful Revan. In addition to Force-sensitives seeking solace, Revan encouraged ordinary civilians to visit the academy and immigrate to Dantooine, where they might find peace. These individuals included Elise Montagne and Samnt, two Humans who met through Revan; the Twi'leks Lur Arka Sulas and Sol'aa; the Duros Kni; the Telosian Jordo; the Mandalorian Jagi; and the Twi'leks Lena and Malare. Wealthy landowner Ahlan Matale would also visit the Enclave and pester Jedi Master Vrook Lamar about his disputes with Nurik Sandral.

For decades, the Enclave served not only as a place of learning but also as a major repository for Jedi artifacts salvaged from or created after the destruction of Ossus. While Revan sought to destroy the Star Forge, an ancient Rakatan creation used by the Empire, Malak returned to Dantooine in 3956 BBY and ordered an orbital bombardment that leveled the Enclave and killed most of its occupants. The Enclave was left in ruins and plundered by the Sith, who seized holocrons revealing the locations of other secret academies. With only the sublevel partially intact, the academy's ruins were tainted by the deaths of numerous Jedi, their demise resonating in the Force for years to come, shrouding Dantooine in a veil for Force users. Despite this setback, Revan destroyed the Star Forge and Malak, ending the civil war he had initiated and ushering in a brief period of peace.
As the Sith forces withdrew from Dantooine, the planet's settlers managed to maintain a semblance of government by utilizing the ruins of the Jedi Enclave. Without the guidance of the Jedi Council, a government was established in the new city of Khoonda. The government authorized salvagers to form an organized group sanctioned by the Khoonda civil code and establish settlements in the east courtyard area of the Enclave. The government oversaw the relics the salvagers recovered from designated salvage areas within the ruins, all subject to a fee based on their estimated value. By 3951 BBY, Khoonda's salvage industry remained a primary source of income for the local community, but the sublevel, infested with large, vicious insects called laigreks, was the only area with significant salvage remaining.
During these years, others sought out the ruins as well. The Handmaiden Brianna was tasked with acquiring valuable Jedi relics by Atris, the former mistress of the Jedi Archives on Coruscant. Atris sought to gather Force knowledge at a secret academy on Telos IV, intending it as a contingency in case of an attack on the Jedi Enclave. Mical, a Republic diplomat on a mission to locate traces of the Jedi, was found by the exiled Jedi Meetra Surik in the Enclave's archives, guarding what Jedi lore remained. Before joining Surik's mission to find the remnants of the High Council, he shared his conclusions about the thefts, suggesting the Jedi themselves were behind most of them, seemingly to prevent their knowledge from being used to locate Jedi.
Following the failed Conclave on Katarr, Jedi Master Vrook Lamar exploited the Enclave's permeation with the dark side to conceal his presence from the Sith Triumvirate, a group of Sith responsible for initiating the Great Jedi Purge five years after the Order's Civil War. As Jedi Surik searched for him, she discovered that the people of Khoonda still harbored bitter memories of the Sith occupation that the Enclave's presence had brought upon them. Many resented the Jedi, and defending them became a path to unpopularity. However, when Surik returned to Dantooine and saved Khoonda from the mercenary forces of Azkul during an uprising on the planet, the Jedi's reputation was somewhat restored, and the Enclave was partially rebuilt.
Surik was able to pass through the once-collapsed east entrance with Jedi Master Kreia to meet the remnants of the High Council. Jedi Masters Zez-Kai Ell, Kavar, and Vrook Lamar were summoned to the Enclave to address the threat of the Sith Triumvirate. Surik had sought them out on Nar Shaddaa, Onderon, and Dantooine, respectively, after Master Atris agreed to let Surik aid the Jedi. Unknowingly, Surik had been manipulated by Kreia, who was secretly the Triumvirate leader Darth Traya, to gather the so-called "Lost Jedi". As the last members of the Jedi Council of Dantooine attempted to judge Surik and strip her of the Force, Traya retaliated and murdered the Jedi by draining the Force from them. With Lamar, Ell, and Kavar dead, Traya only needed to turn Atris to ensure the Order's complete annihilation. Sensing the arrival of Atris's bodyguards, the Handmaiden Sisters, at the Enclave, Traya disappeared to allow the Handmaidens to capture Surik and take her back to the remote academy on Telos IV.
Following the deaths of the Jedi Masters, Jedi historian Deesra Luur Jada returned to the Enclave to survey the ruins. Discovering the bodies of the Council members, Jada concluded that the Enclave could never be rebuilt and abandoned the site to history. Despite the historian's claim, the Order reestablished operations at the site nearly a century later, but the Enclave was permanently abandoned by the time of the Great Galactic War.

Although operations had resumed on Dantooine, the Enclave was abandoned indefinitely following the return of the Sith Empire, the original organization unseen since the Great Hyperspace War. After a costly war with the Republic and the Jedi, the controversial Treaty of Coruscant was signed, and a protracted Cold War ensued. In the weeks leading up to the treaty's signing, disgruntled Jedi Knight Fortris Gall summoned Republic Lieutenant Harron Tavus to the Enclave's ruins to inform him of his treasonous actions. Jedi Gall was, in fact, collaborating with a group of rebellious Jedi who hoped to overturn the decisions of the Galactic Senate and the Jedi High Council to reignite the war with the Empire. After agreeing to meet with others who shared Gall's views, Jedi Master Dar'Nala and the Wookiee mercenary Dalborra met with Tavus in the ruined Council Chambers. During the meeting, the Jedi managed to persuade Tavus to join them in a meeting with Sith representatives in the nearby Crystal Caves.
Accompanied by Jedi Satele Shan, Master Dar'Nala, Jedi Gall, Lieutenant Tavus, and Dalborra, they entered the caves to meet with Darth Angral and Darth Baras. Negotiations quickly deteriorated, and a skirmish erupted between the two sides. During the fighting, Shan realized that Master Dar'Nala had succumbed to the dark side of the Force in her attempts to destroy the Sith. Before Shan could apprehend her quietly, Dalborra punched the Togruta Jedi in the face, killing her. With the opposition's leader dead, the remaining Jedi retreated, abandoning the caves and the Enclave.
The Jedi Enclave was still standing at the time of the third Galactic War. The Nova Blades' incursion occurred just west of the enclave, which remained largely untouched throughout the battle.

The Enclave was left desolate for thousands of years afterward. During this time, the Jedi Order flourished on Coruscant during both peaceful periods and times of conflict, while the Sith seemingly vanished following the conclusion of the New Sith Wars. However, war once again engulfed the galaxy, and the brutality of the Clone Wars extended to the tranquil world of Dantooine. Concealed within the ruins, the geneticist Zeta Magnus, known by the alias Saturna the Garu, secretly housed an accelerated GeNode chamber and unearthed ancient, long-abandoned cloning facilities in the lower levels. Utilizing these forgotten and forbidden Jedi cloning resources, Magnus eventually perfected cloning methods capable of producing fully developed clones within mere hours. Despite Mace Windu's investigation, Magnus skillfully diverted the Jedi Master from her trail, preventing the laboratory's exposure. The Republic collapsed at the war's end, leading to the demise of the Jedi Order. As the Galactic Empire assumed control of the galaxy, the Rebel Alliance established a base near the Enclave's ruins, preparing to overthrow the Empire and restore the Republic. During an Imperial attack on Dantooine, the clone X2 and the surviving Jedi Knight Falon Grey led a squad of Alliance soldiers into the Enclave's hangar. While X2 held the entrance, allowing the troops to retreat into the ruins, his brother, X1, led the Imperial assault force into the building, eliminating all the troops and Jedi Grey. The Imperials, presuming X2 dead, withdrew from the Enclave, leaving it once more filled with corpses.
Shortly after this brief conflict, the Galactic Civil War engulfed the galaxy, with Imperial forces battling rebel insurgents throughout the Empire. On Dantooine, the Enclave's ruins became legendary among the local populace, known as "The Place of Fallen Rocks," with rumors suggesting that those who entered never returned. Capitalizing on these rumors, the Empire amplified the fear while Darth Vader visited the Enclave in search of his son, Luke Skywalker. Vader theorized that Skywalker, a Force-sensitive individual without formal training, might seek out the Enclave in pursuit of hidden Jedi knowledge. During his exploration of the ruins, Vader discovered a perplexing cloning facility dating back to ancient times; Vader correctly deduced that the technology was a relic of ancient cloning research conducted by the Jedi Order. This chamber, entirely operated by droids, had recently been discovered by explorers Mammon Hoole, Zak Arranda, and Tash Arranda just before Vader's arrival. As they explored the Enclave, the active cloning droids successfully cloned Vader, the Arrandas, and Hoole, although the clones suffered from significant defects, rendering them violent. These clones attacked nearby settlements but were ultimately defeated, leading to the final abandonment of both the cloning facility and the Enclave.
The Jedi Enclave's exterior, a prominent landmark on Dantooine, was constructed from local stone and masonry, distinguished by prominent fin-like stone structures surrounding the main buildings of the complex. Consisting of three large above-ground structures, with both a ground floor and a subterranean level, the Enclave was designed so that all areas could be reached from the main, central courtyard building, which served as a central hub.
The northeastern side of the Enclave overlooked the Khoonda plains, the primary route for foot traffic to and from the Enclave. A small courtyard connected the north and east wings to the central building, radiating outward like spokes. In the academy's prime, the courtyard was typically bustling with Jedi, settlers, and refugees from the surrounding areas, all hoping to meet with the Jedi Council. From this courtyard, the ancient Rakatan Ruins from the Infinite Empire were faintly visible, still radiating a strong dark side presence. Kath hounds near these ruins were particularly dangerous, and the Council advised people to avoid the area.
The Enclave's landing platform, a long, oval-shaped structure with high walls and no roof, was located south of the central building. Similar to the central building, the bay's exterior stonework was adorned with six large fins evenly spaced around the perimeter. Surveillance droids monitored the landing pad, where Aratech operated both a general supply store and a droid facility.

The main entrance to the Enclave was accessible from the east courtyard, the primary approach to the complex from the Khoonda plains. The eastern "spoke" of the academy building contained the main hallway that led into the Enclave's central courtyard building. The central building, the main above-ground structure, featured an open-air courtyard, the focal point of all activity within the Enclave. A large circular planter containing a sizable tree stood at the courtyard's center, with benches placed around the area to encourage meditation. The north wing housed the visitors' quarters, providing lodging for local non-Jedi in need of rest and recovery.
The western wing provided access to the main training dojo and a general gathering chamber, which served as an audience chamber where the Council met with locals. The large underground chamber featured clear floors and rows of high-backed chairs lining the curved walls, occasionally interrupted by large trees set in wall niches. Directly above this room was the formal meeting chamber of the Jedi Council. The small rotunda's windowed walls offered views of the grassy plains outside, while a ring of four chairs was positioned inside.
Following Malak's attack during the Civil War, the Enclave's facade was ruined, with crumbling stone scattered across the pathways. Inside the main building, grass grew through the ruined floors, and collapsed areas allowed water to collect in the sublevel. The Council Chamber suffered a direct hit during the attack and was completely destroyed, exposing the lower-level gathering chamber to natural light. The chamber's floor was overgrown with weeds, and all furnishings had been stolen long ago.

Similar to the eastern wing, the western wing's entrance was secured by blast doors; however, while appearing identical on the surface, the entry hall descended beneath the Enclave's main floor into the sublevel. A large garden chamber was located beneath the central courtyard building, featuring large basins holding flowering bushes that cascaded over the stone edges of their containers. Positioned on a raised dais, the garden chamber was filled with natural sunlight filtered from above, and a stone bench stood at the room's center. Several common rooms furnished with benches were scattered throughout the sublevel, along with two large round classrooms and a room containing numerous computer terminals. One of the common rooms led to a storage area, while another led to a droid bay housing several GE3-series protocol droids; Dergar Chester, the Enclave's head technician, had left notes regarding their overheating issues.
While many classrooms and training chambers were located in the sublevels, the largest room was the Jedi Archives, situated beneath the landing platform. Access to the Archives was restricted to Jedi Masters, a policy that differed from the ruined library on Ossus and the main Archives on Coruscant. Similar to the Archives at the Jedi Temple on the capital world, the large chamber housed its collection of holobooks on large stacks along its walls. The two-story chamber featured two levels of shelves and a large open area for study. At the end of the hall stood a stone statue beneath a unique light fixture. A room containing the Enclave's mainframe computer and a cluster of power conductors was located not far from the Archives chamber. In a separate chamber, the Order stored rare artifacts, including armor and weapons, many of which had been recovered from Ossus.

Following the Sith invasion, the sublevels were declared off-limits by the Khoonda Militia, the new caretakers of the Enclave after the Jedi were destroyed following the Jedi Civil War. As the Enclave deteriorated, beasts known as laigreks began nesting in the lower levels, harassing and sometimes killing anyone who disturbed their eggs. A hidden ancient Jedi cloning facility was a unique feature of the lower level. As a result of early Jedi experimentation into the cloning sciences, the writings of Master Simikarty eventually led to a strict ban on future experiments, and the chamber was locked and forgotten. Zeta Magnus first excavated it in the decade before the Clone Wars. The cloning tanks resembled modern Spaarti cloning cylinders and could produce mature clones in days, or even hours, after Magnus modified some of the technology. The facility, completely staffed by droids, scanned the minds of the subjects to be cloned and implanted their memories into the cloned brains. Despite the advanced technology, the ancient Jedi technology was flawed and produced a mild psychosis in the clones.
According to game files from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Revan was originally intended to encounter a Jedi Master named Tar'eelok in the Enclave while she trained her Padawan Garum. The player would have had the opportunity to discuss various topics with her, including the properties of Cortosis mineral, the Mandalorian raiders, the ancient grove, the Jedi Code, and the Masters of the Council.
Shuma, a Hutt, was also planned to have a role in the Enclave and a conversation with Revan, but the character was ultimately removed.
In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, when interrogated by Saul Karath about the location of the enclave, Revan stated, "Alderaan. They're on Alderaan." This is a reference to A New Hope, where Princess Leia falsely identified Dantooine as the location of a Rebel base when interrogated by Grand Moff Tarkin to protect Alderaan.
Cut content in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords included a character named Kaevee, a Jedi Padawan who remained in the sublevel after the Sith bombardment. Kaevee had learned to control the laigreks that infested the sublevel and referred to them as her "pets."
In Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Jedi Enclave can be observed from a cliff when the player explores the easternmost part of the Dantooine map. However, a death barrier prevents access to the enclave on the regular map, and attempting to jump off the cliff results in death and respawn elsewhere. The Enclave becomes briefly accessible during the flashpoint "Secrets of the Enclave."
