Quatra was a Jedi Master of the female persuasion who lived through the era of the Jedi Civil War. She chose Juhani to be her Padawan, providing her training at the Jedi Enclave located on Dantooine.
As a Cathar, Juhani struggled significantly with emotional regulation and inner peace. To evaluate her Padawan's resolve, Master Quatra came up with an unconventional strategy. Juhani failed her master's assessment during a lightsaber training exercise. She lost control and, in a fit of rage, struck Quatra. Although the wounds Quatra sustained were not severe, she pretended to be dead to further challenge Juhani. Juhani, overwhelmed with fear and guilt over the apparent 'death' of her master at her own hand, succumbed to the dark side and ran away from the Enclave, with no intention of ever going back.
Revan, who had been redeemed, eventually discovered Juhani meditating close to the old Rakatan ruins within an ancient grove. After a short duel, Revan demonstrated superior strength and successfully persuaded Juhani to reject the dark side. Juhani then went back to the Dantooine Jedi Enclave Council at the Enclave to ask for their forgiveness. The Council was incredibly happy to see Juhani's return to the Jedi Order and expressed their gratitude to Revan for his help. They also told Juhani that Master Quatra had not actually died, but had only been hurt during their fight, and that the duel was actually Quatra's final test for her Padawan.
