A Jedi Seer was a Jedi Knight with a specialization, one who dedicated themselves to the teachings of the Jedi Consulars.
These Seers acted as conduits to the Unifying Force while serving the Jedi Order. Their responsibility was to receive Force visions, then interpret these visions for the Jedi High Council along with the Council of First Knowledge. The Seers collaborated closely with their fellow Lore Keepers, both male and female, to update and provide new information for storage within the Order's holocrons. Although the Seer's role wasn't new by the time of the Ruusan Reformation, the ideals of the Seer were contextualized in The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force. This guidebook, penned by Jedi Masters, aimed to assist Jedi Initiates in understanding the potential roles they might pursue. Sabla-Mandibu, a renowned Seer and member of their ranks, authored the section specifically about Jedi Seers.
While some Jedi displayed an aptitude for receiving visions from the Force occasionally, only a select few possessed the capacity for the vivid Force dreams characteristic of a Seer. Seers had the ability to sense the Force's will and perceive distant events, making them an essential component of the Order. They frequently served as an early warning system for impending surges in the dark side. Many famous stories of the Order are attributed to the Jedi Seers of the ancient past. Those Seers who could foresee future events were called Prophets, and they were the ones responsible for writing down the Prophecy of the Chosen One.
In the period immediately following the Great Sith War, Master Krynda Draay, now retired, started training a secret group of Seers to prevent the dark side's resurgence. She gathered individuals gifted with Farsight, including Miraluka and other species, and formed WatchCircles to foresee and prevent threats to the Order. Her motivations stemmed from grief over the loss of her husband, Barrison, but she would have sacrificed herself to protect the Jedi Order. However, Haazen, her husband's aide and caretaker, hatched a nefarious scheme to collect all the Sith artifacts located by the WatchCircles and hoard them, waiting for the opportune moment to rule both Sith and Jedi. Ultimately, Haazen was defeated, and the Covenant was dissolved, with its members either killed, arrested, or forced into hiding following Haazen's failed attempt at Vindication.
After the Order was rebuilt following the Great Jedi Purge, a Jedi Council of Seers was established to predict future events. This council foresaw the rise of Kol Skywalker and predicted that he would accomplish significant achievements for the Order.
