Vrook Lamar, a Human male, achieved the rank of Jedi Master as early as the Great Hunt, and held a position on the Dantooine Jedi Enclave Council. Furthermore, during the Mandalorian Wars, the Jedi Civil War, and the Dark Wars, he served as a member of the Jedi High Council. Despite their frequent disagreements, particularly regarding the choice to readmit Revan into the Jedi Order following his descent to the dark side of the Force, he maintained a friendship with fellow Council member Vandar Tokare. Following the Conclave at Katarr, he withdrew to Dantooine with the remaining Jedi, awaiting the Sith's emergence. However, in the Jedi Enclave ruins, he met his end at the hands of Kreia when Meetra Surik convened a council to confront the Sith Triumvirate.

After the Great Sith War, Lamar was based at the Jedi Enclave located on Dantooine, though he occasionally went to Council meetings at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. After Exar Kun greatly reduced the Jedi's numbers, the High Council initiated a Great Hunt to eliminate the terentatek, which were found to be the reason behind the deaths of numerous Jedi across the galaxy. Officially, the hunt concluded in 3993 BBY when the last of these creatures were forced deep beneath Korriban. Due to the planet's strong connection to the Sith, it was considered too dangerous to search for them. Three Jedi Knights, specifically Shaela Nuur, Duron Qel-Droma, and Guun Han Saresh, were selected to continue the hunt, reporting to the Council on Dantooine. Lamar, along with other Council members, had significant misgivings about dispatching such a small group of Jedi, especially a member of the Qel-Droma family to Korriban, considering the actions of Duron's cousin, Ulic, during the recent war. While the other Masters concurred on the small party size, they argued that judging a Jedi based on their lineage was unjust.
Before the Mandalorian Wars, when Meetra Surik was still a student at the Dantooine Jedi academy, Lamar overheard her in a heated argument with his Padawan and requested Master Vandar to take appropriate disciplinary measures, as her own master was not taking action. Lamar labeled her a "mediocre Jedi" with an ambition for power that could lead her to the dark side. He also expressed concern about her strong influence on other Padawans, noting that they were quick to emulate her actions, while others vehemently opposed her. Vandar, however, saw Surik's strength as unique and believed she was a natural leader, dismissing Lamar's concerns as irrelevant to him.

Lamar and Tokare also disagreed on the selection of five Padawan learners to become apprentices to Jedi Masters Feln, Q'Anilia, Raana Tey, Xamar, and Lucien Draay. This group was secretly part of the Jedi Covenant, a group established years prior by Sage Master Krynda Draay to protect against a new Sith emergence. The students were trained at the Jedi academy on Taris, a lawless rimworld where the Jedi aimed to create new Jedi Knights to maintain order.

However, just before the Mandalorians invaded the Galactic Republic, the students were killed by their own masters. Zayne Carrick, the sole Padawan who survived the massacre, was framed for the murders. After learning that a prophecy was the reason for his Masters' actions, he turned himself in, fearing he would cause the Republic and the Jedi Order to collapse. As he was escorted in chains to the Jedi Tower, Lamar saw him on the holonews in the Enclave's council chamber, before Carrick decided to escape again to protect those who had helped him and would not be spared by his Masters.

As more Jedi joined Revan in the war, Lamar grew frustrated with the Council's diminishing authority and criticized further acts of defiance. Although the five Masters of Taris had not confessed to the murders, Lamar demanded their reassignment to different posts, believing they had failed in their most basic duty: protecting their students. As they faced judgment before the High Council on Coruscant, Tokare regretted not heeding Lamar's reservations about assigning learners to unenthusiastic teachers.
Lamar responded with equal passion when Raana Tey protested his decision to split up her group. When the Jedi withdrew from Taris, the planet had only recently joined the Republic, leaving its citizens to defend themselves against the approaching Mandalorian invasion. Following the Battle of Jebble, the High Council invited Lucien Draay to join them. However, Lamar disliked how Draay had capitalized on opposition to Revanchism and how the Draay Trust had garnered him support among the councilors, especially considering they had recently reprimanded his group for failing to protect their students. Draay accepted the seat, and while Lamar and Tokare agreed, it was to monitor him closely and learn more about the Padawan Massacre and the individual Tokare suspected was behind Draay's rise to power. This person was Haazen, Krynda Draay's aide, whose motive was to allow the Covenant Shadows greater freedom.
After Zayne Carrick obtained evidence to clear his name, he sent two acquaintances to deliver a message to Master Vandar and headed to Coruscant. The Master received a holographic transmission from Shel Jelavan and Jedi Knight Alek Squinquargesimus informing him of the events on Jebble, where Covenant Shadow Celeste Morne used the Muur Talisman's power against the Mandalorians. He agreed to meet them at a cantina in Coruscant's underlevels. Due to the arrest warrant for the Revanchists, Alek used the alias "Captain Malak."

Initially skeptical, Master Lamar accompanied Tokare and met the two, who told them about Raana Tey and her duel on Taris with Carrick, where she revealed Krynda Draay as the Covenant's leader before dying. Alek also mentioned that Carrick was en route to Coruscant with Sith artifacts from the Sanctum of the Exalted, a containment facility on Odryn where the Covenant had conducted experiments. Knowing Krynda Draay's importance, Lamar realized that even this was insufficient to bring the matter before the Council, stating that accusing her would tear the Order apart. Krynda Draay was a Sith War hero and had been training Jedi for thirty years without Council oversight, ensuring their loyalty. Just as Master Vandar concluded that one of the Masters involved in the Padawan Massacre needed to confess, Xamar stepped forward with Zayne in custody. The Khil agreed to confess and accept punishment in exchange for full immunity for Krynda and a role in rescuing her from the Rogue Moon Prophecy, which half the First WatchCircle had already failed to escape.
Lamar led a group of Jedi to the Draay Estate but had to retreat when Haazen, a failed Padawan who secretly joined Exar Kun, hacked Admiral Saul Karath's fleet systems and attacked them. Surprised, Lamar ordered the Jedi to fall back. The battle ended when Draay turned against Haazen and redirected orbital fire towards the Draay Estate, killing Haazen.

Lamar led a Jedi contingent to Cathar, anticipating the presence of the Revanchist and his followers. Lamar confronted the Revanchist and Malak, arguing that the Mandalorians were not special and that the Jedi's involvement in the war was unnecessary. The Revanchist then discovered a Mandalorian mask, triggering a vision of the Battle of Cathar for all Jedi present.
The vision depicted the merciless slaughter of the Cathar people by the Mandalorians. Cassus Fett ordered the survivors to be herded into the ocean and executed. One Mandalorian, wearing the discovered mask, protested Fett's decision but was killed along with the Cathar. Consumed by rage after the vision, the Revanchist adopted the name "Revan," vowing to continue the fallen Mandalorian's mission until justice was served. He kept the mask, promising not to remove it until the Mandalorians were defeated.
The revelation of the events on Cathar convinced the Council to approve the Revanchists' actions in the war, leading many Jedi to join them. Despite this, Lamar developed a negative view of everyone who followed Revan.

Lamar remained on Dantooine throughout the tumultuous Jedi Civil War. He initially believed Revan and Malak embodied the Order's ideals, but after the Battle of Malachor V and the war's end, they returned as Sith Lords. Lamar blamed the Jedi Masters, particularly Kreia, for their unorthodox teachings. He attended the trial of Meetra Surik, where the former Jedi General who served under Revan was exiled from the Order. He hoped her isolation would allow her to reflect on her actions, but upon her return in 3951 BBY, she stood by her decision to go to war. After Revan's fall, Lamar became more cynical and demanding of Jedi apprentices, expecting perfection to prevent further failures. He learned that Revan and Malak had discovered ancient ruins strong with the dark side on Dantooine, but he argued that they must have already been corrupted to seek them out. Following the capture of Darth Revan, he was the only member of the Enclave Council who opposed retraining him in the Jedi ways, fearing his former self might return as the Dark Lord of the Sith. However, his fears were unfounded. Revan grew strong in the Force once more, remained true to the light side, and ended his own Sith Empire.
In 3956 BBY, the Jedi at the Enclave assisted with local security and mediated family disputes within the community. Lamar oversaw relations with the settlers but found it frustrating to deal with sentients like Ahlan Matale, who were rash and foolish enough to start wars over perceived slights. As Revan regained his place in the Order, he was tasked with resolving the feud between wealthy landowners Ahlan Matale and Nurik Sandral, which escalated with the disappearances of their sons, Casus Sandral and Shen Matale.
While Revan and the Ebon Hawk crew were close to finding the Star Forge, Darth Malak, Revan's former Sith apprentice and now ruler of the Sith, attacked the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine with orbital bombardment. Although many Jedi died, Lamar and his fellow Council members survived the assault.
After the Jedi Civil War, Lamar was the only Dantooine Council member who did not attend the disastrous Conclave at Katarr. Following this event, Lamar and the remaining Jedi chose exile, hoping to deceive the new Sith threat hunting them into believing they had won, thus revealing themselves. During the dark period of the First Jedi Purge, Lamar took refuge in the ruins of the Dantooine Enclave.

Meetra Surik eventually found the surviving Council members. At that time, Lamar was helping to rebuild the destroyed Dantooine Enclave. He allowed himself to be captured by mercenaries on Dantooine to prevent them from attacking Khoonda. When Surik learned of his capture, she went to the mercenary base in the nearby crystal cave, unaware of Lamar's plan. After killing his captors and freeing him, he criticized her harshly and explained the situation. They both hurried back to Khoonda to help defend it. Lamar left to attack the mercenary camp and returned in time to help Surik defeat Azkul and his remaining mercenaries.
Despite Lamar's more benevolent attitude toward Surik after her heroism in the Battle of Khoonda, he did not let his feelings affect his judgment when the newly formed Council convened to judge her again. Lamar and his fellow Masters, Kavar and Zez-Kai Ell, decided that Surik posed too great a threat to the galaxy and chose to permanently sever her connection to the Force. As they attempted to carry out their sentence, Kreia attacked Lamar and the other two council members. Kreia, having regained her own connection to the Force through Surik, had grown weary of both the Jedi and Sith's ignorance and decided to end them, seeing them as threats to her plan to silence the Force's will. Kreia drained the Jedi Masters of their Life Force, killing them because of their inability to release the Force as she and the Exile had done.
During his time as a Jedi Master, he was known for his blunt manner, sternness, caution, and suspiciousness.
Lamar desired all his students to be strong, capable Jedi. He also held a low opinion of those who defied the Council's will, as Kavar noted that Lamar thought poorly of everyone who followed Revan to war.
Despite his pessimism and cynicism, Lamar was an active member of the Dantooine Council, often personally mediating disputes. Despite his harsh demeanor, he sometimes showed great concern for Padawans' safety, such as when he rebuked Revan for endangering his pupils during the Mandalorian Wars.

Master Lamar practiced advanced Force forms and various styles of lightsaber combat. By 3951 BBY, he had mastered Ataru, Shien, Niman, and Juyo, supplementing them with aggressive Force powers. He used a green lightsaber.
Although he considered it a punishment for only a few, he could use the Sever Force ability, which he attempted to use on Meetra Surik. His knowledge of the Force also included techniques to stun or paralyze opponents and advanced healing powers.
Ed Asner voiced Vrook Lamar in the video games Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
Because Lamar wielded a green lightsaber, he is thought to be a Jedi Consular before becoming a Master, assuming the lightsaber color-to-specialization mapping from the first KotOR game is canonical.
In Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Lamar can teach the player one of the Force or lightsaber forms he knows, depending on the order in which the Jedi Masters are found.
The Force Power Force sight reveals that Lamar has a relatively weak light side alignment.
If you choose the dark side path and duel Lamar, he is considered one of the game's most challenging bosses.
During the attack on Khoonda, if you choose to help Azkul and his mercenaries against Khoonda, the Jedi Exile fights and kills Lamar.
If the Jedi Exile openly states their intention to kill Lamar while he is still captive, Lamar escapes his cell after the mercenaries are killed, revealing he was never unarmed and drawing his lightsaber. The Exile and their companions must then battle Lamar. When he is close to defeat, he acknowledges the Exile's regained abilities and flees.
Alternatively, the Exile can pretend to aid the Khoonda militia before betraying them in battle, allowing Azkul to assassinate Administrator Terena Adare. Lamar, occupied elsewhere, does not witness the betrayal and assumes the Exile did their best to prevent the Administrator's death. The two do not duel despite the mercenary control over Khoonda.
If the Exile saves Khoonda, they can later kill Lamar in the rebuilt Enclave. If the Exile has killed either Zez-Kai Ell or Kavar, they will be forced to fight the remaining Jedi Masters.
Instead of fighting Lamar when taking the darker path, the Exile can allow the mercenaries holding him captive to take him to Nar Shaddaa, earning admiration from Kreia, Visas, and Hanharr.
