During the era of the Jedi Civil War, a male Human named Casus Sandral resided on Dantooine. He belonged to the Sandral family, being the offspring of Nurik and sibling of Rahasia. Despite the animosity between their fathers, he developed a friendship with Shen Matale after his sister fell in love with the Matale. Casus, an archaeologist with a passion for Dantooine's ancient ruins, met his death at the claws of kath hounds during an expedition to a particular location. His father initially held Ahlan Matale responsible, but the Jedi Revan later intervened, resolving the conflict between the families.
Casus Sandral, a male Human, was born to Nurik Sandral and was the brother of Rahasia Sandral. After the death of their mother, Nurik was left to raise his children alone. Seeking sanctuary, Nurik relocated his family to the planet of Dantooine, arriving shortly after Ahlan Matale had moved there with his family. The two men engaged in frequent disputes, fostering a bitter rivalry that they attempted to impose on their children. However, their efforts were not entirely fruitful, as Rahasia, Casus' sister, secretly met and fell in love with Shen, Ahlan's son. Subsequently, Casus encountered Shen, and the two began to cultivate a friendly bond.
During the time of the Jedi Civil War, Casus pursued his passion as an amateur archaeologist, working on digs across Dantooine. In 3956 BBY, while exploring ancient ruins, he embarked on an expedition to ruins of an origin he documented in his personal datapad as "The Rak". Tragically, before reaching his destination, he was ambushed and fatally wounded by a pack of savage kath hounds. His father, unaware of the true circumstances, mistakenly blamed the Matale family for his son's disappearance and retaliated by abducting Shen Matale.
While investigating the disappearance of Shen Matale, the Jedi Padawan Revan discovered the archaeologist's remains. Revan recovered Casus' diary and returned it to his grieving father, refusing Nurik's offer of financial compensation. The Padawan then successfully mediated a peaceful resolution between the two families, enabling Casus' sister and her lover to live together with their fathers' blessings.
Casus maintained a loving relationship with his father despite disagreeing with his animosity towards the Matale family, even befriending Shen Matale not long before his passing. He also maintained a diary where he recorded personal reflections. He had [grey](/article/color-legends] hair and eyes, and fair skin.
Casus utilized a datapad to maintain his diary. On his last expedition, he was equipped with an energy shield and light armor manufactured by the Echani, along with a Verpine headband and a cardio package implant.
Casus appeared as a minor character in the 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. In his deceased state, Casus's skin tone was light, unlike his family's darker complexion, because the model used for his corpse was a generic one used throughout the game.
In Knights of the Old Republic, it is possible for players to overlook or ignore Casus's body, resulting in the diary not being returned. The Sandral-Matale feud quest can still be completed, and players can choose a dark side path by falsely accusing Ahlan Matale of Casus's death, leading to a mutual massacre of both families.
An allusion to Casus exists as his Obituary within the "Secrets of the Enclave" Flashpoint during the Dark Descent expansion of Star Wars: The Old Republic.
