Shen Matale was a male Human who resided on Dantooine during the era of the Jedi Civil War. As the son of Ahlan Matale, he was the designated successor to his family's property.
Shen was raised by his father with a deep-seated animosity towards the Sandral family. However, fate intervened when he encountered Rahasia Sandral in a secluded setting, away from their respective fathers. Despite the longstanding conflict between their families, he found himself falling in love with her. He also developed a friendship with Rahasia's brother, Casus Sandral. Tragically, Casus met his demise shortly thereafter, falling victim to kath hounds while exploring the ruins located near the Jedi Enclave. Nurik Sandral, mistakenly believing that Ahlan was responsible for Casus's disappearance, retaliated by abducting Shen and imprisoning him within his fortified residence. Rahasia, in desperation, implored her father to release her beloved, but her pleas were ignored.
Eventually, Revan, suffering from amnesia, arrived at the Sandral estate in search of Shen. Rahasia confided in him about the situation. Revan located Shen, but Shen refused to abandon Rahasia, fearing that she would face Nurik's wrath for aiding his escape.
Revan successfully persuaded Rahasia to join them in their departure. During their escape, both Shen and Rahasia expressed their gratitude to Revan. However, their escape was interrupted by the arrival of Ahlan, accompanied by two battle droid bodyguards. Simultaneously, Nurik emerged, surrounded by his own droid guards, to confront his longtime rival. Revan was compelled to intervene and mediate the dispute to prevent a potentially deadly confrontation. Despite the stubbornness of both men, Revan managed to convince them that their children were genuinely in love and persuaded them to agree to build a new home for the couple. As the two families parted ways, Shen assured Revan that they would never forget his kindness. Shortly after Revan's departure, Shen proposed marriage to Rahasia.
Players have the option to persuade Shen and Rahasia to elope to the Jedi Enclave. Their plan involves giving their fathers an opportunity to forgive them and welcome them back into their families. If this reconciliation fails, they intend to forge a new life elsewhere. In this scenario, Shen's fate is likely sealed during the destruction of the Enclave.
If the player aligns with the dark side, they can deceive Nurik into believing that Ahlan was responsible for Casus's death. This deception leads to Nurik killing Shen.
Alternatively, players can manipulate Shen into returning to his father by convincing him that his relationship with Rahasia is doomed to fail or by instilling hatred towards Rahasia, leaving her heartbroken.
According to Kaevee, Shen met his end, and his estate was destroyed, during the Sith Empire's invasion of Dantooine. However, this plot point was ultimately removed from the final version of the game, rendering it non-canon.
