Terena Adare was a Human female who served as the Agricultural Administrator for Dantooine up until the Jedi Civil War period, when that world was attacked by the Sith Empire's forces under the command of Darth Malak. Following the Sith's invasion, occupation, and eventual departure, she took on the role of leader for the surviving colonists, establishing the government's base in the outpost of Khoonda, previously the home of Ahlan Matale.
In 3956 BBY, Darth Malak brought devastation to Dantooine, which severely damaged the Jedi Enclave and eliminated the Jedi presence on the planet. After the assault, Adare dedicated herself to ensuring the survival of the remaining settlers. She governed from Khoonda, leading a government responsible for safeguarding the settlers and managing their daily lives—a responsibility previously held by the Jedi—and was known as the Administrator.
Recognizing that the militia corps was insufficient to guarantee Khoonda's security, Adare secretly maintained contact with Jedi Master Vrook Lamar, a former member of the Dantooine Jedi Enclave Council and a long-time friend. Unlike the majority of settlers, she placed her trust in the Jedi, recalling the positive impact they had when the Enclave was still standing. However, she was aware that the Jedi had a very negative reputation on Dantooine, and she was unable to change that perception. The opportunity to alter this situation arose in 3951 BBY, the year when tensions between the settlers and Azkul's Exchange mercenaries significantly escalated. Without Adare's knowledge, the mercenaries captured Vrook, planning to transport him to Nar Shaddaa to collect Goto's bounty. It was during this period that Meetra Surik arrived on Dantooine, searching for Vrook, and the Administrator granted her permission to investigate the Enclave's ruins. In return, Surik offered to assist the settlers in any way she could.
Ultimately, the Exile's investigation, which included freeing Master Vrook from the mercenaries, sparked an open conflict between them and Khoonda, resulting in the Battle of Khoonda, during which the mercenaries attempted to infiltrate Khoonda and assassinate Adare. During this battle, Surik played a crucial role in defending Khoonda and, alongside Vrook, bravely fought the mercenaries, restoring the settlers' faith in the Jedi.
Following the battle, with Dantooine's secure and prosperous future assured, Adare made every effort to ensure that the actions of Vrook and Surik, and the legacy of the Jedi, would be remembered.
Terena Adare made her debut appearance in the 2004 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords. If the player chooses the alternate dark side path throughout the game, Meetra Surik will assist the mercenaries in their attack on Khoonda, leading to Adare's death at the hands of Azkul. Subsequently, the Exchange gains control of the planet.
