Kni was a male Duros whose life unfolded during the Jedi Civil War, a time of conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. During this period of galactic strife, Kni's homeworld was subjected to a bombardment by the Sith. Surviving the devastation, he became one of the few to escape, and by the year 3956 BBY, Kni had established a new life at the Jedi Enclave on the world of Dantooine, located in the Outer Rim.

A male of the Duros species, Kni's existence coincided with the Jedi Civil War, a war fought between the forces of the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. In this era of conflict, the Sith launched an orbital bombardment against Kni's homeworld. The assault brought about widespread destruction, resulting in the boiling of the oceans and the deaths of much of the population. Kni managed to escape as the Sith fleet arrived, barely surviving to become a refugee. Ultimately, he made his way to the agrarian planet of Dantooine, situated in the Outer Rim, where he found sanctuary at a hidden Jedi Enclave. Here, the Jedi granted him permission to reside.
In the year 3956 BBY, Kni encountered Revan, the former Dark Lord of the Sith who had lost his memories and was undergoing retraining as a Jedi, in the Enclave's courtyard. During a conversation about Kni's past as a refugee, Kni recognized Revan as a Jedi and expressed his gratitude to him and the Enclave's Council for their hospitality. They discussed the ongoing war, with Kni sharing his perspectives on the opposing sides.
Possessing teal skin and red eyes, Kni was a male Duros. He felt a sense of thankfulness towards the Jedi Order for providing him with a place to live at the Enclave. While Kni understood Basic, he spoke in Durese with a distinctive grammatical style, frequently framing statements as questions and adding "yes" to the end of many sentences.
While residing on Dantooine, Kni was seen wearing a tunic of white and mauve, mauve pants, green-and-white boots, and a utility belt. Having spent a considerable time as a fugitive, he possessed very few belongings.
Kni is featured as a non-player character in the video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, released in 2003 and developed by BioWare. Interactions with Kni are optional and do not influence the game's plot, quests, or the player's moral alignment.
