Elise Montagne, a female Human character, resided on an estate located to the north of the Jedi Enclave on the planet Dantooine during the era of the Jedi Civil War. After the passing of her husband, she formed an obsessive attachment to C8-42-GE3, her husband's protocol droid, which ultimately led the droid to flee from her and their shared home.
Revan's initial encounter with Elise occurred on the plains just outside the Jedi Enclave. She stopped him and urgently requested his assistance in locating her "companion". Revan eventually learned that the companion she was seeking was, in fact, a droid. Despite being somewhat disturbed by her demeanor, he consented to help her find it.
Revan eventually tracked down the runaway droid and rescued it from an attack by Kath Hounds. He then discovered that the droid had intentionally been trying to self-destruct. C8-42-GE3 revealed to Revan that Elise had developed an unhealthy fixation on him. She desired to treat him as a replacement for her deceased husband, which was causing her to become increasingly isolated and withdrawn.
Concerned about her mental state, and somewhat unsettled by her affections, Revan determined that her well-being would improve if the droid was no longer present.
Revan declined to destroy the droid or force him to return to Elise, believing that the loss of her droid companion would negatively impact her. C8-42 reluctantly agreed to return. Elise expressed her gratitude for the return of her droid and doesn't meet Samnt.
If the player informs Elise that the droid could not be found, she rushes out into the dangerous plains in an attempt to locate him. This action is considered a dark-side choice, and most party members will criticize the player's decision, with the exception of the two droids and Canderous.
In another dark side alternative, instead of promising C8-42 that he will explain to Elise why the droid chose to be destroyed, Revan informs the droid that he will destroy him and tell Elise that he was unable to find him. Appalled by his cruelty, the harmless droid becomes enraged and attacks Revan, only to be easily destroyed. However, this action does not affect the player's subsequent choice of what to tell Elise.
In yet another alternate ending to the mission, Revan destroyed C8-42 at the droid's request. Upon returning and informing Elise of what transpired, she was overcome with grief and returned to the Jedi Enclave. Ironically, she encountered a man named Samnt, and they quickly developed a close relationship. During their final meeting, Elise thanked Revan for his assistance, finally acknowledging that she had been using her droid as a means of coping with her husband's death. She apologized for her previous behavior, and she and her new partner departed.
