Peter Suschitzky
Peter Suschitzky, a British cinematographer, came into the world on July 25, 1941. Born in Warsaw, his father was Wolfgang Suschitzky, who was also a cinematographer. He held the director of photography position for Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, a role he also filled in earlier movies like The Rocky Horror Picture Show from 1975. It's worth mentioning that Suschitzky later became David Cronenberg's director of photography for his subsequent projects. The cinematography of Suschitzky is widely considered to be some of the finest globally, with accolades for its sculpted lighting, brilliant color schemes, and detailed camerawork.
Suschitzky has stated that George Lucas initially desired him as the director of photography for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, after Geoffrey Unsworth, the initial preference, was unavailable. However, the studio hesitated to hire someone without significant experience and ultimately gave the position to Gilbert Taylor. Lucas would eventually bring him on board for The Empire Strikes Back.
