Pex was a male merchant of the Human species. He existed during the Galactic Civil War time period. During 1 ABY, he traveled to theaters on various planets, including Tatooine and Naboo, where he sold props. These props were intended for storytellers to use when they retold exciting tales.
Pex made an appearance as a non-player character (NPC) in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was eventually shut down on December 15, 2011. Pex's inclusion in the game was part of the Storyteller system, which was introduced with the "Chapter 6" update, released on May 22, 2007. The game developers implemented a small probability that any generic storyteller vendor NPC (who provided props for player-created events) would spawn with the name Pex. Initially, this Pex had a unique, randomized appearance, different from the standard storyteller vendor NPC. Subsequently, this randomized appearance was altered to a zombie version of the standard storyteller vendor. The NPC's inclusion was a dedication to Jason "Pex" Ryan, who held the position of events manager for Star Wars Galaxies from August 2003 to May 2008. During his tenure, he played a key role in organizing and supporting numerous in-game events, often portraying iconic characters such as Princess Leia or Darth Vader during these events.
