Phil Szostak


Phil Szostak, the individual who holds the position of Creative Art Manager at Lucasfilm Ltd., is also a published author. His works encompass several art books, including titles such as The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (and also the booklet version that came with the Target DVD). In addition to his managerial duties, Szostak is a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group, a role he commenced more than half a year before June 7, 2022.

Biography

Phil Szostak's professional journey with Lucasfilm Ltd. began in February 2008. He initially joined JAK Films Inc. as an Art Department Coordinator. In August 2011, Szostak transitioned to the position of Continuity/Narrative Designer for the project Star Wars: 1313, a role he held until April 2013. Simultaneously, starting in December 2012, he also took on the responsibilities of Image Archivist/Art Department Coordinator, continuing in this capacity until October 2015, when he became a Content & Asset Specialist. On December 18, 2015, Szostak's authored book, The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which compiles concept art from Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, was released.

His time as Content & Asset Specialist concluded in that same month. He then embarked on two new roles: Image Editor & Consultant for The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and Senior Content & Asset Specialist. His role as Image Editor & Consultant finished in June 2016, and The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was released on December 16 of the same year. Szostak remained in the position of Senior Content & Asset Specialist until March 2017, at which point he transitioned to Creative Art Manager. On December 15, 2017, The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, another art book authored by Szostak, was published. Another book authored by Szostak, The Art of Solo: A Star Wars Story was published on May 25, 2018. Szostak also wrote The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which was published on March 31, 2020. Szostak is the author of the art books The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian (Season One) and The Art of Star Wars: The Mandalorian (Season Two), which were published on December 1, 2020 and February 15, 2022 respectively. He joined the Lucasfilm Story Group more than six months before June 7, 2022. Szostak is also the author of a short story “Fancy Man,” which was published on August 29, 2023 as part of the anthology book From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi, and featured the character Maximilian Rebo.
