Pieter, an aviator serving the Rebel Alliance, worked as a pilot. He not only flew an A-wing starfighter, but he also trained new, inexperienced pilots to get them ready for battle. Sometime near 0 BBY, during a training flight, he met Arvel Crynyd, another pilot, and permitted Crynyd to demonstrate a combat tactic to the trainees. Subsequently, Crynyd enlisted with the Alliance and formed a friendship with Pieter.
