The Planetary Defender starfighter, alternatively known as the Planetary Fighter, represented one of the many products originating from the SoroSuub Corporation.
While capable of space travel, the Planetary Starfighter wasn't designed as a dedicated space superiority fighter for military applications. Instead, it served as a corporate security asset, utilized by customs enforcement. Although its operational role was somewhat restricted, it demonstrated exceptional pitch control, velocity, and acceleration.

This Planetary Fighter was equipped with a pair of forward-facing laser cannons and a pair of launchers, each capable of carrying up to six concussion missiles. The starfighter possessed light shielding.
Tinoon Station, situated at Tinoon, made extensive use of Planetary Fighters.

Totally Games conceived the Planetary Fighter for the 1999 video game Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance, published by LucasArts. LucasArts rejected the initial design, citing its engine's similarity to ship designs featured in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. A portion of the original design ultimately materialized in the game as the Pinook fighter.
The Rebellion Era Campaign Guide provided the more specific designation "Planetary Defender starfighter" in a picture caption, but the book contained no other information pertaining to this specific model.
