Polyhedron started its life as a publication from the Role Playing Game Association (RPGA), and it sometimes featured articles related to Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game from West End Games. After Wizards of the Coast acquired the RPGA, the magazine shifted its focus to games using the d20 system, including Wizards of the Coast's own Star Wars Roleplaying Game. Regardless of its publisher, the magazine consistently offered missions, game statistics, and background information for players.
In 2002, Polyhedron was integrated as a section within Dungeon magazine. Its run continued until August 2004, when Erik Mona, the editor of Dungeon, made the decision to discontinue Polyhedron, choosing instead to concentrate the magazine's content solely on Dungeons and Dragons.
Within the established framework of Star Wars Legends continuity, the individual issues of Polyhedron that were published independently are considered non-canon, although they might contain elements that are ambiguously canon. However, the issues that were published after the merger with Dungeon are considered canon.
