The Power 5 heavy blaster pistol, a type of blaster, was produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. sometime before the Clone Wars occurred. Notably, it was the preferred weapon of Nym's personal pirate force.
Its design was intentionally made to resemble the more successful DL-44 heavy blaster pistol from BlasTech Industries. Similar to the DL-44, the Power 5 was a potent weapon effective at close ranges.
The blaster gas chamber within the Power 5 was smaller and less efficient compared to the DL-44. This resulted in a reduction of power, but allowed the pistol to discharge a greater number of bolts from a single power cell.

The Power 5, much like the DL-44, is essentially a modified "Broomhandle" Mauser C96 with added aesthetic components. Over the years, sources have sometimes confused the Power 5 with the Model 44 blaster pistol, due to their similar appearance, the primary difference being the barrel length. Many sources identify the full-barrel version as the Power 5, while the cut-off barrel version is considered the Model 44. However, Star Wars Galaxies and its associated Trading Card Game incorrectly designate the cut-off barrel version as the Power 5. Furthermore, Star Wars: Behind the Magic erroneously labels Luke Skywalker's Model 57 as a Power 5.
A Power 5 with a full barrel can be observed in A New Hope as the sidearm of Death Star gantry officers, and Princess Leia is seen wielding it in promotional images.
The "Jawa and LIN Droid" action figure set from the Hasbro Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collection features a Jawa carrying a Power 5 pistol with a full barrel and a grip scaled down for smaller hands. On the cover art for The Paradise Snare, Bria Tharen is depicted using a Power-5 with the full barrel.
