Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collection, a toy series from Hasbro dedicated to Star Wars, was available from early 2007 through late 2008.
For the 2007 releases in this collection, each figure included a special coin designed to fit into an album that came with a Darth Vader figure. Conversely, the figures that were part of the 2008 series came with a unique stand, much like those included with 2006's The Saga Collection.
Throughout 2007, Hasbro manufactured 60 distinct, individually packaged figures, along with several Battle Packs, multipacks, and exclusive items. Each wave of the assortment featured at least one concept figure designed by Ralph McQuarrie. Eight waves were produced in total, in addition to six figures presented on vintage-style cardbacks. Notably, this line contained one of the initial waves focused solely on the Expanded Universe. However, this particular wave had limited availability in stores. This collection also marked the debut of Comic Packs, which paired two action figures with a reprinted comic book, introducing a wider range of Expanded Universe characters.
A sub-series of repackaged figures, called Saga Legends, was also introduced, featuring a selection of Fan's Choice figures. These figures were chosen by fans through polls on various collecting websites, including Rebelscum.com, in 2006. Many of these figures were previously only accessible as exclusives or within multipacks or vehicles.
Hasbro also launched a series of six commemorative tin four-figure sets. Each set contained four characters, with the exception of the A New Hope tin, representing characters from the initial six Star Wars movies. These sets were packaged in a lunchbox-style tin designed for displaying the figures.
In 2008, alongside a number of additional Revenge of the Sith toys, a wave of figures was released, inspired by the The Force Unleashed video game.
The collection's Y-wing fighter set, which includes pilot Lieutenant Lepira, reveals that his astromech droid was named R5-F7. An Entertainment Earth exclusive set of two action figures introduced two entirely new Mandalorian characters: B'arin Apma and Llats Ward.
