The Primtara system was situated within the Primtara sector, which itself was part of the Trailing Sectors region of the Mid Rim. Its designation was the same as the Primtara Offensive, a military campaign that occurred during the Galactic Civil War and involved conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.
The system of Primtara first appeared in The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009 authored by Daniel Wallace together with Jason Fry; this book identified its location as grid square P-15.
