The Pursuit-class light cruiser functioned as a type of capital ship within the Imperial Navy.

The Pursuit-class light cruiser bore a resemblance to a smaller version of the more prevalent Star Destroyers utilized by the Galactic Empire. However, its main hull was characterized by a relatively flat, square-bowed platform, differing from the deep-keeled dagger shape. The primary engines were situated within the superstructure that rose above the hull platform at the stern, which was capped by a series of sensor globes. The main weapons array consisted of two gun turrets positioned in front of the superstructure.
This light cruiser possessed a docking bay capable of deploying several TIE Series starfighters, and on occasion, it was outfitted with more formidable TIE Advanced x1 starfighters. In open space, the cruiser's linear acceleration appeared to be marginally slower than that of the Millennium Falcon.
The bridge's internal layout incorporated a cockpit window design similar to those found on Kuat-designed starships, featuring consoles located in close proximity to the windows.
During the Battle of Andalia, the Pursuit-class light cruiser Shepherd, under the command of Grand Admiral Osvald Teshik, spearheaded a force consisting of two squadrons of TIE fighters and eight gunships in a futile engagement against the Hapan consortium, ultimately leading to the ship's destruction and the annihilation of the entire fleet. Another Pursuit-class ship, the Enforcement, served as a command ship for Commander Strom within his sector located near the Wheel.
