The Qella were a four-legged species originating from the planet of Brath Qella.
As genetic successors to the Ahra Naffi, the Qella discovered their homeworld was fated to collide with a moon in its orbit. To prepare for the ensuing ice age they knew was coming, the Qella constructed a vessel that contained their history, genetic information, and instructions detailing how to return to Brath Qella and reestablish their species when conditions were favorable. This vessel, eventually known as the Teljkon Vagabond, left Brath Qella around 120 BBY and became a legendary tale among spacers. The moon's impact occurred soon afterward, resulting in the death of the remaining Qella.
In 16 ABY, the Vagabond made its return to Brath Qella, initiating the process of revitalizing Qella life. This endeavor was assisted by Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, who hid the Vagabond from unwanted attention, providing the species and their planet with an opportunity for a fresh start. Doctor Joto Eckels speculated that the Qella's return could occur anytime within a range of one hundred to one thousand years.
The Qella shared a similarity with the Yuuzhan Vong in that their technology was cultivated from the various lifeforms that had once existed on Brath Qella. While they lacked the mass production capabilities of the Yuuzhan Vong, they were able to construct a significantly more powerful spacecraft, the Teljkon Vagabond. A key distinction appears to be that the Qella were a peaceful species, focused solely on preserving their own species through the Vagabond's construction, rather than on destruction. The Vagabond only engaged in attacks against entities it perceived as threats to its designated mission.
