The progenitor of Quarg, held the initial leadership position among the ship-dwellers after their accidental arrival on the planet of Drexel.
The future Governor Quarg's dad once governed the Korteen asteroid belt during the era of the Galactic Republic. During his time in power, he exploited his position to conceal acts of space piracy. Under his direction, the asteroid miners, who were actually scavengers, employed sonic jammers to incapacitate starships, causing them to collide with asteroids. In exchange, the governor received a percentage of the scavenger's earnings, which came from salvaging and reselling the ships' debris and goods. However, this scheme eventually attracted the attention of the Jedi Order, compelling Quarg's father to evade the pursuit of Jedi Knights. Though his vessel sustained significant damage, he and his followers successfully fled to the Drexel system, where they crash-landed on the planet Drexel. These survivors evolved into the ship-dwellers, with Quarg's father becoming their inaugural governor.
Due to Drexel's limited metal resources, Quarg's father continued to use a sonic jammer to disable passing ships in order to obtain vital supplies. His technicians cautioned that this strategy was provoking attacks from the indigenous Sea-dragons, but Quarg's father ignored their warnings. The technicians then launched a revolt, which Quarg's father suppressed. However, instead of executing the mutineers, he cast them adrift, intending for them to perish in Drexel's vast ocean. These technicians survived and became the Dragon Lords, who were the ship-dwellers' adversaries.
Driven by avarice, Quarg's father misused his authority to amass wealth, but ultimately lacked the cunning or fortune to conceal his illicit activities from the Jedi Order. Governor Quarg frequently spoke of his father, viewing him as a simpleton who could never master Drexel. Quarg considered his father's act of showing mercy during the technician rebellion to be his most foolish decision. Instead of killing the rebellion's leaders, Quarg's father opted to abandon them at sea, a decision Quarg derided as "stupid".
Quarg's father harbored a superstitious perspective regarding the Jedi Knights, simultaneously despising and fearing them, while comparing them to warrior priests or sorcerers.
Quarg's father was known to wear a blue uniform complemented by a red cape and a green helmet. This helmet was later passed down to Quarg, who donned it during his encounter with Luke Skywalker.
