R-97, the CR90 corvette FarStar's New Republic designated quartermaster droid, managed the vessel's inventory, taking charge of all storage areas and supply containers. His duties included the complete oversight of the ship's stored items.
This particular droid was quite interactive, often appearing to negotiate when dispensing equipment. Known for his obstinacy, R-97 would attempt to dissuade crew members from requesting specific items in order to conserve the ship's resources. He would also falsely claim items were unavailable, despite their abundance. To keep supplies out of reach of biological beings, R-97 used his extendable legs to position items on the highest shelves. He also supervised the SE4 servant droids and J9 worker drones, tasking them with patrolling the supply zones to deter any unsanctioned looting.
R-97 was programmed to obey only the captain's explicit commands, and he was notorious for holding resentments against crew members who had mistreated him. During their assignment in the Kathol sector, the FarStar crew quickly realized the importance of maintaining a positive relationship with the droid.
