Raala Ponchar, a female Human operative, served as a spy for the Galactic Republic during the era of the Clone Wars.
Living between the Jundland Wastes and Mos Espa, Raala worked as a moisture farmer at Bellek's moisture farm. She frequently purchased vaporator parts and supplies from Watto.
In the wake of the First Battle of Geonosis, Ponchar transmitted several reports to the Jedi Council located on Coruscant. These messages detailed attacks perpetrated against the citizens of Tatooine by a new type of battle droid. Shortly after sending these reports, communication with Ponchar was lost by the Council. She was pursued by Saato, a Dark Jedi, who commanded a battle droid army against the farms. Subsequently, she was imprisoned within Jabba Desilijic Tiure's palace.
The Council dispatched Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Padawan, to Tatooine with the mission of locating her. However, Skywalker was captured by Saato and incarcerated in the same cell as Ponchar. Utilizing the Force, Skywalker managed to unlock the cell door, enabling their escape. Ponchar recovered his lightsaber, which had been confiscated upon his capture. She revealed to the Padawan that Wat Tambor of the Techno Union had contracted Jabba to transport construction materials and a metal known as cortosis to Metalorn. Cortosis, resistant to lightsabers, was being utilized by the Separatists in their newly developed battle droids.
After informing Skywalker about the other prisoners held in the dungeons, they separated to free as many of them as possible. Skywalker later relayed the information obtained from Ponchar to Obi-Wan Kenobi, his master and friend. The subsequent fate of Ponchar remains unknown.
