Reaps were beings inhabiting the deceased forests of the Forest Moon of Endor. Their bodies were elongated, with a beak and a pair of eyes at the front; they would shriek via the beak when attacking enemies. Furthermore, the rear of the reap's body contained a dark, bifurcated organ. This organ ejected stretchy, white fibre, which could ensnare members of other species, including sentient creatures like the Ewok and Gupin. Reaps were known to eat Gupins, as demonstrated when they fully wrapped the young Gupin Oobel in their fibre, intending to eat him.
While searching for the missing Gupin Mring-Mring, a party of Ewoks – Kneesaa, Paploo, Wicket, and Teebo – discovered a reap's dwelling. After disturbing some reaps, Paploo and Wicket found themselves captured. They were brought to the reaps' fibre nest, which already imprisoned Mring-Mring. However, Kneesaa and Teebo used a fallen tree limb to tug on the reaps' nest. By accumulating force and then releasing the branch, they freed their three companions from the reaps' dead forest. Once their friends were safe, Kneesaa and Teebo avoided further attacks from the reaps and quickly fled.
