Rebel heavy battle armor

The Rebel battle armor, which is also referred to as the Rebel heavy battle armor, represented a particular style of armor utilized by the forces of the Rebel Alliance throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War.

Description

Rebel troopers, with reinforced armor, with the middle Rebel without a face visor.

This Rebel battle armor was engineered to be lightweight and suitable for contemporary combat scenarios, frequently being the choice for soldiers who needed to maintain a high degree of agility. It was designed to provide defense not only against kinetic impacts but also against energy-based weaponry such as blasters. The primary goal of the armor's design was to enhance the survivability of Rebel infantry when they were directly engaged with numerically superior Imperial forces. A complete set of this armor consisted of several components: a helmet, a chest plate, separate pieces for the left and right biceps, bracers for both arms, gloves, leggings, and boots. The helmet itself was equipped with a full-face visor, a protective neck scarf, a specialized breath mask, and a respirator.

History

After the pivotal Battle of Yavin, the Rebel battle armor became standard issue for specialized units including Rebel heavy troopers, the Rebel Alliance Honor Guards, Rebel Assault Commandos, and Rebel Desert Troopers. Furthermore, Rebel trooper Mika Horn also made use of a variant of this battle armor.

During the year 1 ABY, a spacer undertook a quest to locate and assemble the nine distinct parts of a Rebel battle armor, traveling across various planets within the galaxy before finally completing the set.

Behind the scenes

The Rebel battle armor made its debut appearance in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts. The game was eventually shut down on December 15, 2011. The Rebel battle armor was included as one of the faction armors available to Rebel players, introduced with the "Combat Upgrade" patch released on April 27, 2005.
