Recon line

A recon line was a naval arrangement within the Imperial Navy, led by a captain of the line. These lines consisted of either a pair or a quartet of starships, which could operate alone or as a pair. Typically, these vessels were altered light cruisers, where armaments were sacrificed to improve their sublight drives and sensor capabilities. Recon lines were tasked with locating the enemy, observing their formation without direct conflict, and then reporting back with the collected intelligence. During the Galactic Civil War, the deployment of recon lines expanded, as the Galactic Empire outfitted a greater number of their capital ships with hyperwave signal interceptors. These interceptors could identify flux shifts, enabling the Imperial Navy to precisely forecast a starship's intended location following a hyperspace jump.
