The Redstar functioned as a frigate within the Galactic Alliance.
During the year 44 ABY, the Redstar transported Jedi Masters Luke Skywalker and Jaina Solo, delivering them to the gateway of The Maw to commence their assignment on Abeloth's planet. Following the completion of that assignment, Luke awoke in a medical bay on a sizable ship orbiting Coruscant, and he believed it was probably the Redstar.
