Rena Laut, previously a missionary, a manager of repulsorlift rentals, and a guide, was a Human woman as defined by gender.
Prior to the conflict known as the Battle of Naboo, Laut dedicated some of her life to missionary activities on Cularin, working with the Tarasin people.
In the year 31 BBY, Laut operated an enterprise on Dorumaa, where she leased out watercraft described as "boats"—specifically, low-riding skiffs engineered for aquatic travel. Due to her extensive time spent studying Dorumaa's oceans, she possessed considerable insight into its marine life, which she willingly shared with her clientele. The well-being of both her customers and her vessels was a genuine concern for her.
Years of outdoor living on Cularin resulted in Rena having sun-faded hair and toughened skin. She was prone to laughter, sometimes at strange or unsuitable moments, yet she rarely displayed a smile.
