Dorumaa

The resort moon of Almas was formerly known as Dorumaa. Once, it existed as an inner planet within the Cularin system. Back then, its orbit intersected with that of Oblis. At the moment of Oblis's cataclysmic destruction, Dorumaa was in close proximity, and the resulting force propelled it further into the system. Eventually, Almas's gravitational field captured it. Because it had drifted far from its suns, Dorumaa underwent a freezing process.

History

The Dorumaa Investment Group initiated a terraforming project in 47 BBY to transform Dorumaa into a vacation destination. To warm the moon and recycle the atmosphere, power generators were positioned close to its core. Additionally, gravity generators were put in place.

As the frozen planet underwent thawing, some of its creatures were caught. While the creatures themselves were deceased, numerous species' eggs managed to endure the thaw, resulting in seas soon abundant with life. However, the local fauna, adapting to the altered environment, experienced shortened lifespans. Special attention was given to a pair of baby leviathans, whose mother seemingly survived the freezing and thawing process, at least long enough to give birth to them.

Despite the resurgence of aquatic life making the moon somewhat more hazardous compared to other resorts, Dorumaa became a highly sought-after tourist destination within the Expansion Region and was developed into the Dorumaa Resort. The young Human Mar Daghreb served as the Head Manager, overseeing five property managers, each of whom had five managers reporting to them. Dorumaa's amenities encompassed family-friendly islands, staffed by perpetually smiling young individuals known as Neo-Caarites.

Regrettably, unexpected indigenous fauna occasionally caught even the investors off guard (though at times, like with the human-friendly, ridable giant sea turtles, it was a delightful surprise). Rena Laut, a local boat rental operator who regarded herself as an authority on regional aquatic life, was occasionally engaged as a guide to prevent "unfortunate encounters." In cases where vacationers vanished, the investors addressed the legal ramifications through substantial donations to their surviving relatives.

Around 47 BBY, a research team stumbled upon a cave, the Dorumaa Excavation, featuring alleged inscriptions on the walls and other indications of an ancient, unidentified species inhabiting the Cularin system. Before further investigation could proceed, the Dorumaa Investment Group erected a floating land platform above the site and denied access. The researchers' findings were ultimately submitted in Rorkee, a floating city located within the nearby gas giant Genarius. Rorkee constructed a replica of the excavation site to draw in tourists eager to believe in ancient alien civilizations.

In 32 BBY, the Galactic Republic welcomed the Cularin system, and the initial senator requested a military presence to discourage frequent pirate attacks. Colonel Jir Tramsig, the commanding officer of the dispatched Thaereian military forces, established his initial outpost on Dorumaa to assess the situation and launched attacks on some of the pirate strongholds situated in the system's asteroid belt from the moon. Subsequently, he constructed a new base on the planet Cularin. This did not have a negative impact on the tourism sector; a week-long vacation on Dorumaa was still an appreciated award, as demonstrated when the Jedi Knight Alec bestowed one upon his permitor Delan in 31 BBY.

Dorumaa also sustained a fishing sector, which included fisherman Drac Gerrat. Utilizing this, the Thaereian military established a base on Dorumaa: Under the instruction of an anonymous member, Identification #43641, suspected to be the Thaereians, the Dorumaa Investment Group constructed a deep-sea landing platform, officially intended as a drop-off point for deep-sea fishing. Identification #43641 also declared the evidence of native intelligent life in the Dorumaa Excavation to be fabricated; however, access to the site remained prohibited.

During the Clone Wars, the Battle of Dorumaa resulted in the Thaereians being expelled from Dorumaa.

Following the Cularin system's return from its nearly decade-long absence, Kaminoan scientist Ko Sai sought refuge on Dorumaa from the various organizations pursuing her. In 21 BBY, Kal Skirata and his allies located her there.
