Rorkee

Rorkee, situated on the gas giant of Genarius, was a city that floated amongst the clouds.

During the Old Republic era, Rorkee was established as a center for scholarly pursuits by individuals whose identities remain unknown. The specific owner of Rorkee was a closely guarded secret, with numerous sentients sharing the responsibilities of ownership.

The original purpose of Rorkee did not generate enough profit to satisfy its owner; therefore, to boost revenue, the authorities in charge of Rorkee decided to shift the city's focus to tourism. They were aware of an excavation site on the nearby moon of Dorumaa that supposedly contained evidence of an ancient native species. Despite the Dorumaa Investment Group denying these rumors and prohibiting civilian access to the site, Rorkee recreated the dig site based on reports from the explorers who had made the initial discovery. Their goal was to attract tourists who would otherwise visit Dorumaa.

The simulated dig site in Rorkee, which opened in 46 BBY, became one of the city's two most notable attractions, alongside the Sanads of Rorkee hotel. It achieved moderate success, primarily appealing to those who already believed in the existence of ancient species. However, local businesses experienced growth, and employment rates increased. Blibbie, a Sullustan who served as the dig guide, possessed limited archaeological knowledge but quickly learned to highlight the supposedly written marks on the wall that a layperson would likely overlook.

In 31 BBY, Doctor Shilaea Motacc joined the Usable Resource Location, Recovery, and Development Corporation. As an added benefit, the U.R.L.R.D. offered her a vacation to Rorkee, allowing Motacc, an archaeology enthusiast, to study the simulated dig site. The U.R.L.R.D. later planned to send college students to enhance their education by working alongside Motacc. Unbeknownst to her, a plot was underway to kidnap her during her visit to the dig, with a staged cave-in designed to make it appear as though she had died. City authorities were seemingly involved, officially refusing to return a body to her relatives. However, the operation was largely unsuccessful. Locals began to speculate about Motacc's potential survival due to the peculiar behavior of the dig workers. Consequently, the U.R.L.R.D. dispatched a team of investigators disguised as college students. These investigators successfully located and rescued Motacc, although they failed to uncover the identities of those responsible for the crime.
