Usable Resource Location, Recovery, and Development Corporation, abbreviated as U.R.L.R.D., functioned as an active corporate entity within the Cularin system during the era preceding the Clone Wars.
Karae Nalvas, a dark Jedi, held a management position within the organization, operating under the assumed identity of Fesvk Wefos.
In the year 31 BBY, the individual known as "Wefos" recruited Dr. Shilaea Motacc, a respected scientist and amateur archaeologist, with the concealed intention of exploiting her research to construct a weapon capable of mass destruction. U.R.L.R.D. arranged for Motacc to enjoy a recreational trip to Rorkee, a city located on the planet Genarius, where she was given access to a replica of the archaeological site known as the Dorumaa Excavation. The U.R.L.R.D. planned to subsequently dispatch university students to collaborate with her.
Nevertheless, Motacc disappeared during what was purported to be an accidental cave-in at the excavation site. Wefos correctly surmised that foul play was involved, suspecting that she had been abducted either by the Modified Technology Systems corporation or by rogue U.R.L.R.D. operatives. Wefos then engaged an independent team to journey to Rorkee and liberate the "damsel in distress." Wefos's hired team achieved success, although the perpetrators behind the criminal act remained unidentified.
Subsequently, two weeks later, Wefos once again engaged an independent team, this time tasking them with traveling to Depatar, another city on Genarius, in search of a missing U.R.L.R.D. courier named Alec. Alec was, in fact, not a courier, but a Jedi Knight who had uncovered Wefos's true identity and nefarious schemes and had absconded with the blueprints for the weapon. The independent agents located Alec, who revealed the truth about Nalvas, persuading them to switch allegiances. However, during this period, Nalvas successfully retrieved the stolen blueprints. It appears that Nalvas severed his ties with U.R.L.R.D. from this point forward.
